Splash screen in ubuntu Karmic koala 9.10 cause slow effect boot time on your ubuntu machine, and one to accelerate one of ubuntu you can disable your ubuntu splash screen, to do that, follow these steps:
Login as root by type :
$ sudo su$ gedit/etc/default/grub
Find this line :
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"
Remove "quiet splash" to be:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=" "
Then exit and save, and update your grub by type :
$ update-grub
