Ubuntu Natty Narwhal (11.04) Schedule Release

Softpedia has announced the release of Ubuntu 11.04 schedule with codename Natty Narwhal.  Ubuntu 11.04 first alpha version will be released in november of next month. still do not know what the latest features of this version. which would be much more powerful and stable than previous versions. well, below is the schedule of release of ubuntu Natty:


November 4th, 2010 - Alpha 1 release
December 2nd, 2010 - Alpha 2 release
January 6th, 2011 - Alpha 3 release
February 3rd, 2011 - Alpha 4 release
March 3rd, 2011 - Alpha 5 release
March 31st, 2011 - Beta release
April 21st, 2011 - Release Candidate
April 28th, 2011 - Final release of Ubuntu 11.04
We wait for the alpha version to be launched next month in november, I can not wait to test it.

Install VLC player In Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04)

Actually, installing VLC on ubuntu is Lucid very easy and probably, all Ubuntu users already know. but for you who do not know, I think it's nice to see and read this posting. to install VLC player in ubuntu Lucid lynx, follow these steps:





Go to terminal and login as root by type :

$ sudo su

Now add vlc repository from ppa by type :

$ add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/vlc

Update and install it by type :

$ apt-get update
$ apt-get install vlc vlc-plugin-pulse mozilla-plugin-vlc

Now after finished you can watch the video using vlc player. Happy Testing....

Mavericks ubuntu has supported multi-touch features, but the new bit of hardware that supports this feature, because many computers and laptops on the market do not support touch screen or multi touch. multi-touch technology can be used only for hardware-hardware is the latest technology, and only a little vendor who developed the multi-touch. Mavericks mungin after ubuntu was released in the months ahead, the vendor will also develop systems and touch screen on a laptop computer that will circulate in the market.

Install Webmin 1.510-2 in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04)

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any modern web browser, you can setup user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and much more. Webmin removes the need to manually edit Unix configuration files like /etc/passwd, and lets you manage a system from the console or remotely. in Ubuntu karmic you can install it by download this packages. 


Now install additional packages, download this here if you have downloaded, just double click on this packages, or you can install in by termnal.

$ sudo su
$ dpkg -i libmd5-perl_2.03-1_all.deb

Install webmin by double click or using terminal again

$ dpkg -i webmin_1.510-2_all.deb

Go to web browser, type local IP Address on address bar on port :10000 ex :

127.0.1:10000

Now webmin is ready use...

NOTE :

If any trouble installing proccess on webmin, try to fix it by type :

$ apt-get install -f

Perfect Desktop Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.04) Using Elementary

For you who like look of ubuntu desktop and for variation of the theme and icon. you can try elementary theme. This actually is a common theme, but if you add other features like a dock and globus preview can be perfect desktop and you will be like it. now you can install elementary theme, include elementary-theme, elementary-icon dan elementary-wallpaper.

To install elementary themes you must add third party repository, login as root by type :

$ sudo su
$ gedit /etc/apt/source.list

Add this line :

deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/elementaryart/ppa/ubuntu lucid main

Update repository by type :

$ apt-get update

To install elementary theme, using synaptic packages manager. go to System > Administration > Synaptic Package Manager and quick search (elementary-theme, elementary-icon dan elementary-wallpaper) then check list it then click "apply to install" wait until install finished.



Now you can use this them, by "Right Click on the Desktop > Change Desktop Background and Choose Appreance click elementary and customize it. then close.

Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha 3 Has OneConf and Linux Kernel 2.6.35

news.softpedia.com :  A few minutes ago, the Ubuntu development team unleashed the third and last Alpha release of the upcoming Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) operating system, due for release in October 10th, 2010. As usual, we've downloaded a copy of it in order to keep you up-to-date with the latest changes in the Ubuntu 10.10 development.

What's new in Ubuntu 10.10 Alpha 3? Do you remember the OneConf software introduced by Softpedia a couple of months ago? Well, you should know that the first version has been released and it is available in the default software repositories. OneConf can be easily installed via the Synaptic Package Manager and it will allow users to synchronize the applications installed on all of their Ubuntu desktop or laptop/netbook machines, via the Ubuntu One service. After the installation, OneConf can be found in the File menu of the Ubuntu Software Center application and it is entitled "Inventory on Ubuntu One." The kernel packages were updated to version 2.6.35-14.19, based on the final release of Linux kernel 2.6.35.

Last but not least, the highly anticipated Btrfs filesystem can now be safely used on new installations, via manual partitioning. Remember that you MUST create an EXT3 or EXT4 /boot partition first.

Shotwell is now the default photo management application in Ubuntu Netbook Edition.
